What is SPICES?
To visit the new SPICES website, click here.

SPICES is an acronym for Support for Parents, Infants and Children through Early Services. We provide support services to children with developmental delays and learning difficulties and to their parents as well.

SPICES is a non-profit community project by Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, Wangsa Maju, KL. Every man, woman and child is valuable in the eyes of God. Each person's presence, whatever the measure of his or her abilities, adds to the richness and diversity of life. The old adage that "variety is the spice of life" embodies a part of what SPICES believes in as we work with children with special needs.

SPICES offers:
  • An Early Intervention Programme (EIP) for children from birth to 6 years of age.
  • A School Age Programme (SAP) for children graduating from our EIP.

Our Mission

We strive to extend God's love to the community by developing and implementing support services for people with learning difficulties so that their full potential may be realized.

Aims and Objectives

Here's a list of our main aims and objective:
  • Provide children, with developmental delays, opportunities for learning so that their full potential may be realized.
  • Offer practical, emotional and spititual support to the families who participate in our programme.
  • Encourage parental involvement in the education of their children with special needs.
  • Be an advocate for children with special needs.

Other primary focus areas include:

  • Developing quality service models that can be replicated by other EIP centres.
  • Developing local resources such as teaching aids and training materials.
  • Providing training in special educational needs.

Admission Criteria

Here are the general guidelines we use to help us determine suitability of admission to your EIP programmes:

  • The main problem of the child is in the area of developmental delays and/or learning difficulties.
  • The child must be under 6 years of age at the time of registration.
  • The centre is open to all needy children irrespective of race or religion.
